'Velvet Rose'shows some good disease and insect resistance in our heat and humidity. She blooms in flushes about six weeks apart and,on a mature plant, each flush will have over a hundred blooms. The blooms are large, approximately ten inches across the face, tendrils included, and sixteen inches long, including peduncle. There are two have two splits in the calyx and little fragrance.Leaves are large and dark green giving the plant a "tropical" appearance.Tendrils are 1 1/2 to 2 inches long and recurve nicely. The plant itself is medium sized, growing to around eight feet in our soil.As with most Angel Trumpets it likes strong morning sun and some afternoon shade here in zone eight.
